Villa Details
Villa Malabar the luxurious, modern, 4-bedroom villa is located next to the Golden Pagoda on Laem Sor Beach, on the quiet, picturesque south coast of Koh Samui. This beachfront villa’s design epitomises indoor-outdoor living, with living spaces opening up completely to the gorgeous surroundings, and making the most of the sea breeze.
The sound of the ocean is your sleepy-time soundtrack in all five adult bedrooms—all truly luxurious, each with a king bed wrapped in crisp white linens and an opulent, private en-suite bath.
Villa Malabar’s design reflects its beautiful natural surroundings, by using elements and finishes that blend in, rather than stand out. The use of materials such as stone, wood, polished concrete, sandblasted glass, travertine and terrazzo, as well as fabrics in neutral shades with splashes of colour for accent, means that the view and environment are cleverly highlighted, rather than compromised.
Villa Malabar’s layout is designed for easy living, and sprawls across several pavilions, which are joined by lawn areas and stone walkways. The spacious villa allows plenty of areas for dining and socialising together, both indoors and outdoors; yet offers ample private areas too.
After entering via steps over a pond, you’ll arrive at the main living pavilion, which overlooks the garden and sea. Depending on the weather, this room can be opened up on all sides, and is cooled by ceiling fans and the breeze. Floor-to-ceiling stack-away and sliding glass doors means that should the weather not be favourable, the stunning scenery can still be enjoyed. Flop-in sofas are angled to soak up the views, and a 10-seater hard wood dining table, with wood and leather chairs, lies to the side. A second dining table is ideal for additional dinner guests, or perfect for the children to all sit together. Just behind the living pavilion, you’ll find the state-of-the-art, fully equipped open plan kitchen with a large central island unit, and a door leads to the chef kitchen, where the chef prepares delicious local delicacies for your enjoyment. A continental breakfast with a twist is included in the rate, and guests can enjoy the flexibility of having their own private chef on hand to prepare fresh, local produce and favourite Thai and international cuisine.
The main building accommodates the master suite, TV room with guest bathroom, an additional bedroom, as well as a stdy and a fitness room consisting of treadmill, step machine and dumb bells. The spacious master bedroom offers ‘lie-in-bed’ views, as well as a luxurious bathroom, complete with terrazzo bathtub, twin vanities, and a rain shower. Upstairs, another oceanfront bedroom puts a sea view front and center. The upper level also has achildren's bedroom with a bunk bed, and a single bed with a trundle. While the grownups enjoydowntime, the kids can stay up late with a movie in the media room, complete with a flat screen TV withApple TV, PlayStation, sleeper sofa, and en-suite bathroom. The air-conditioned study makes the ideal place to quietly catch up on emails, or do a little bit of work – if you really must. The fitness room allows you to work off those delicious meals prepared by the chef… although laps in the expansive pool or walks along the beach are also great ways to stay fit while on holiday.
A separate pavilion on the seafront holds an additional two bedrooms, each boasting fantastic views, and each equipped with its own en-suite bathroom, also with terrazzo tubs, his-and-hers vanities and rain showers. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors lead onto the lawn and down to the beach. All four bedrooms offer both ceiling fans and air-conditioning, king-size beds with padded headboards and crisp, white linen, as well as bold, feature artwork. The master suite and two bedrooms in the seafront pavilion enjoy exceptional ocean views, whilst the fourth bedroom offers partial sea views. With four well-proportioned en-suite bedrooms,Villa Malabar makes an ideal fair-share option for groups of friends or family holidaying together.
At Villa Malabar, the outdoor living spaces are equally as inviting, and a generous rim-flow swimming pool lies on the front lawn leading down to the beach. The pool is ample enough to exercise in, yet offers a shallow section for children to play. A wooden deck with plenty of sun-loungers and seating flanks the pool, and a beautiful shady tree on the beach has a swing for little ones to enjoy the view. Tall palm trees and giant boulders form features in the tropical garden, with its lush, green lawns, and frangipani trees with hanging orchids.
A sala to the side of the pool offers a sunken seating area as well as an outdoor kitchen, complete with fridges, prep area and barbeque, and makes the ideal spot to enjoy evening cocktails and alfresco dining – perhaps locally caught seafood grilled by the chef. The villa’s prime seafront position means guests have front row seats to Samui’s famous sunsets, with views across to the small islands and onward to the mainland. Adults can enjoy sun-downers, while the children can run about on the sprawling lawns or play on the protected, quiet beach below. When it’s quiet time, little ones can recline to the TV room, yet still be in line of site of the parents, making this an ideal family holiday option. The villa’s lawns, swaying palm trees and sunset views also make it the perfect venue for intimate weddings and other special events.
With a dedicated staff area, the unobtrusive staff are there when you need them, yet they disappear out of sight when guests prefer privacy. Our concierge service can assist you with any boat trips or activities … should you manage to draw yourself away from the villa for a day!
Lamai, 10km away, is the closest big town to Laem Sor, and is a quick 15 minute drive should you crave some night life or are in need of shopping. The neighbouring villages of Thong Krut and Taling Ngam offer several options for seaside dining, from quaint, local beachfront eateries, to restaurants in five-star resorts. Laem Sor Beach is home to only handful of private villas, and is void of vendors and crowds. The quieter south coast offers visitors a taste of the old Samui and local village life. Though not a swimming beach snorkelling trips to the nearby island of Koh Taen can be arranged as a day excursion and also there are exciting activities for children such as crabbing in rock pools and shell collecting.
