Villa Details
A 14 night minimum rental applies. See short stay exceptions below the description.
This magnificent Villa was built during the first decade of the 16th century and became the residence of Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany, during the reclamation of the Maremma land. It then passed into the hands of the Merciai family, and has been recently transformed into a "Historical House" open to all those whose wish it is to allow themselves a different type of break, to discover the beautiful surroundings rich in history and art.
Spanning 2,500 m², Villa 902 is surrounded by 16 hectares of olive groves with 1,700 olive trees. The property features two expansive gardens, one of which offers a sea view. The estate includes 14 bedrooms, a grand dining hall, and three spacious lounges with 15th-century wooden beam ceilings.
The main part of the castle dates back to the year 1000, with additional renovations made in the late 19th century. Inside the castle, accessible from the main garden, is a small family chapel that is now open to guests.
At the end of the garden, a few steps lead to the pool area, set amidst lush greenery. In addition to the 14 bedrooms, almost all with en-suite bathrooms, the castle features several salons, each with authentic period characteristics and furnishings. Each salon has its own unique personality.
The magnificent dining hall, with its 15th-century coffered ceiling, offers a genuine experience of another era. Ideal for families with children, the castle is surrounded by expansive green spaces and provides a peaceful and natural setting.
The aim is to provide all of the castle's guests with the opportunity to live as the nobility of the 16th century with all the modern comforts of the 21st century.
