Villa Details
Nestled in a haven of greenery on one of the prettiest hills in the Aix region, just 3 km from the village of Rognes, noted for its stone (used in the construction of buildings in Aix-en-Provence), a beautiful 18th century style manor, with a gorgeous French garden. Shrub-lined paths lead to fountains, a rose garden, an olive grove, fruit trees and cypress trees. There is also a tennis court on the property.
Accomodation
Beautiful south façade, with all ground floor rooms opening onto a gravel terrace under hundred-year-old plane trees. A large teak table for outdoor dining in the summer, under the cool shade of the trees. The main entrance is at the rear of the house under a columned portico, near a fountain.
One enters through a superb doorway, into a rather spacious hall, in the centre of which is a staircase with a beautiful wrought iron railing, leading upstairs to the bedrooms. This entrance leads to: On the left, a comfortable family room (with TV, Stereo, DVD, etc) and on the right, a guest powder room, a bedroom (1.40m bed, facing the back of the house; with shower room, sink and separate toilet) Directly ahead, a large living room with beautiful fabrics, sophisticated furnishings, piano, 2 comfortable sofas and a wooden sculpted fireplace. This room, with its yellow color scheme, is very elegant. It adjoins on one side a small office that also leads out to the garden, with a beautiful fresco painted on the wall, and on the other side, the kitchen. The kitchen is a veritable living area with quality appliances, American refrigerator, Lacanche stove, microwave, but also traditional Provencal elements, such as the stone sink, that give it a sense of charm. This room is large enough for dining around its table. In the stone fireplace there is a supplementary heater for use in the winter. Nearby a pantry with a washer and dryer. From this room one can also get to the Orangerie, a glass room used as a dining room and a winter garden.
The bedrooms are upstairs. The first bedroom, named Terracotta features a wood-frame bed 1.80m/2m. A glass door leads to a terrace that overlooks the garden on the east side of the house. This room has a private bathroom across the hall and separate toilet. The Blue Room has a wood-frame bed 1.40m, bathroom and toilet. The Blue Room shared the same terrace as the Terracotta Room, but has windows facing the garden on the house façade. The Green Room, twin beds 90cm, has windows that look over the front garden and a private terrace on the west side of the house, reached through a glass door. Bathroom with sink, bath and toilet.
The Orangerie is reached via the garden; it adds a sense of conviviality and décor to the house. This very Italian room is all glass, with light and decoration dominating. Potted plants, a dining table, several wicker armchairs in a corner for taking afternoon tea. The swimming pool is tiled and can be heated upon request. Comfortable wooden furniture. This is a place of elegance and movement. Time seems to stop as you enjoy your vacation.
