Villa Details
This magnificent, sprawling home is a rare find. Located at the foot of Bellevue Hill, with a sweeping view of Rose Bay, it’s a perfect base for families and groups looking to luxuriate in style.
A simply a wonderful building. Designed by Professor Leslie Wilkinson, the first dean of the Sydney University Faculty of Architecture, and built in 1924, it feels like an Italian or Spanish villa transported to the other side of the world. The pastel colours, the wooden shutters, topiary and the tasteful furniture all call to mind the old world. Yet when it comes to appliances, fixtures and interior design, you’ll find only the finest contemporary pieces.
With all the obviously impressive things about this stately home, it’s easy to overlook the area. Bellevue Hill is one of Sydney’s most prestigious addresses: a bastion of tradition and quiet elegance. The house itself is high enough on the hill just enough to command a wonderful view of Rose Bay and the Vaucluse headland, but not so far up you can’t walk down to the promenade. Redleaf, just around the corner, is one of Sydney’s favourite hidden harbour beaches and the rest of the Eastern Suburbs is on your doorstep.
